Alberta Raised Biewers and Biros

We are located in Alberta Canada just outside of Edmonton on an acreage with 4 acres of land for our dogs to run and play. Our dogs are part of our family they sleep in our beds and have full roam of the house, we don’t kennel our dogs. We have been breeding Biewer Terriers and Biro Terriers since 2011. We absolutely fell in love with this smart, friendly, loyal little breed. All puppies are whelped and raised in our home with myself, my husband and our two young daughters. Puppies are handled from day one and exposed to many everyday life situations. Getting them adjusted to when they leave for their new homes. We have the most adorable puppies who are very loved and SPOILED 🙂

We only breed dogs who have good temperaments and are healthy. All our dams and sires have been health tested through embark. And have been certified purebred through DNA testing and pedigrees. They are all registered with the International Biewer Club (IBC). All puppies are microchipped and have up to date vaccines, deworming. A clean bill of health from our veterinarian. Along with our 1-year health warranty. Puppies are to be sold as pets only on a spay/neuter contract. Registration papers for the puppies will be given once proof of spay/neuter is received.

BREED INFORMATION:

Mr. and Mrs. Werner & Gertrude Biewer started the first Biewer (pronounced as Beva) through a recessive piebald gene occurrence in their Yorkshire Terriers. Although Mr. Werner Biewer passed away in 1997, his legacy lives on through this exquisite, rare breed.
The Biewers started with the master parents *Darling von Friedheck* and *Fru Fru von Friedheck*. Both dogs were blue and tan and were world youth winners in 1981 at Dortmund. Their marriage brought the first blue, white and golden Biewer, *Schneeflocken von Friedheck*, born in January of 1984.
Mr. Biewer continued breeding his colored Biewers to achieve their white bellies and four white paws. In 1989 the Biewer was accepted as its own breed with the ACH German e.V. As we know them today, the Biewer has enchanted us with their elegant coloring and disposition.
The breed standard is that of a Yorkshire Terrier except for the coloring. The head must have three colors: blue, white and gold in good symmetry. The belly, chest, legs and the tip of the tail is white. The tail is full. The back is blue with white in it. The hair is silky, not curly.
APPEARANCE:
Biewer terriers will weigh about 4–8 pounds and measure about 7–11 inches tall. As for their colors, you’ll find them in tri-color combinations of white, black, blue, tan, With elegant, longhaired coat that parts down the middle. They have a level back, with a high-set, plumed tail.
TEMPERAMENT:
these little dogs get along with pretty much anybody. Adults, seniors, kiddos, and even cats. Doesn’t matter, your Biewer will love them all. They love to play and are very active, full of energy. So be prepared for tossing the ball or throwing a stick. They are smart, happy, and very loyal.
Being so small, they’re excellent lap dogs who are very attuned to their owner’s well-being. They’ll jump up into your lap or onto your chest if they sense you aren’t feeling too hot and do their best to cheer you up with snuggles.

Your Biewer terrier will be fine living in either an apartment or a house with a fenced-in yard, they certainly won’t say no to a quick dash around the backyard, but a pair of daily walks outside an apartment will be just fine.
CARE:
Your Biewer terrier grooming regimen will depend on how long you keep her fur, The long coats, with her hair trailing all the way down to the floor, will require daily brushing and twice-monthly baths. The shorter puppy cut will only necessitate brushing every few days and maybe a monthly bath.
But you don’t want to wash your dog too often. frequent baths can dry out your Biewer’s skin and cause dandruff. As for other grooming, you’ll want to clip your dog’s nails whenever you start to hear them click-clack on hard floors. And don’t forget about brushing her teeth, either.
Biewer Terries do not shed much and are considered a hypoallergenic breed. This makes them attractive for those folks who suffer allergies or sensitivities to hair and dirt. Some owners prefer their Biewer Terrier to have a shorter coat and may trim the floor-length mane to suit their preference.
HEALTH:
Biewer Terriers are a generally healthy dog breed and live about 12 to 16 years. Of course, they will need regular medical and dental care to stay in top health. Because they are such small animals, there are some things to look out for. Nutrition is essential for every dog, and the Biewer Terrier needs a balanced diet to stay healthy. They will need a diet that is low in protein. Dry food (kibble) is recommended.
TRAINING:
The Biewer Terrier’s eagerness to please makes them easy to work with when it comes time to train them. While potty training may take a little longer than you would like, any other training you practice with your pooch should be a breeze overall. Being consistent is very important.
